The committment to mastery over the long haul brings a steady heart and low neuroticism which creates a healthy basis for success, the global ecosystem of competitors creates a necessity for man to be in the game for a long time to achieve a level of performance and excellence which stands head and shoulders above charlatans.
One of the best ways to make this happen is to be locked into your pursuits, in the chambers of your own mind and heart, for the next decade, minimum, a constant awareness that you will move past positive and negative emotions to continue the development of your craft brings you to an equanimity and grounded place that can only be productive across all areas.
Upon zooming in too much on the day, these occurences end up taking far too much importance on the overall perspective of your life.
It’s powerful to learn to detach from both the positive and the negative in life, people talk about being able to move past both insults and flattery from others but what about the internal insults and flattery that our emotional recesses create, directed towards the quality of ourselves and our work?
It’s a delicate balance because you need the furious desire to master your craft, you need to detest mistakes and be angry with yourself for making them. yes, you should be angry at yourself for making mistakes, furthermore you need the ability to take a birds eye macroscope view of your work and know the long term perspective is what you’re developing everyday and you’re going to stick to this for a long time because you know it’s in your best interest to give yourself as long as possible in the arena to sculpt beauty and elite performance, oak trees take multiple decades to grow, take heed of how nature performs to produce a giant of an organism
Being overly neurotic about short term results is a way to certainly strip your life of beauty, strip your consciousness of presence, strip your soul of dignity and pollute the very thing that is meant to be the most beautiful, which is the process.
Each small action taken correctly with thoroughness is a beautiful thing and it should be treated that way.
